Blair Almond is a new Dragon but a familiar face in Meaford.
Born and raised on a farm in the former St Vincent Township, Blair Almond has used that upbringing and the valuable lessons learned to his professional and personal life.
A graduate of Georgian Bay Secondary School, Blair has completed degrees and programs from St Lawrence College (Municipal Administration Program), University of Waterloo (Bachelor of Environmental Studies) and Athabasca University (MBA). His summer job as a lifeguard eventually morphed into full time employment and him having the unique, dual position, of Aquatic Manager and IT Manager.
In 2000, Blair moved to the private sector working for an ISP and building wireless networks. He incorporated Bruce Street Technologies Limited in 2004 initially offering corporate and PC support in Meaford, Town of Blue Mountains and Collingwood. Customer projects and appeals from residents looking for a better solution, led to BST Limited offering wireless Internet in the area. Over 15 years later, and with a growing, dedicated workforce, that network has begun the transformation into a privately funded, rural fibre optic network.
Blair and BST Limited has supported many community charities, among which are Community Living Meaford, Beaver Valley Outreach and My Friend’s House Crisis Centre. Blair is a past board chair of Breaking down Barriers in Collingwood and just finished his 6 year term as a board member of Independent Living Services Simcoe County
