COVID-19 has changed the world. These are obviously very difficult times for everyone as self-isolation and social distancing have become the norm. As a result, the economy is struggling and businesses worldwide are being forced to rethink their processes. The Meaford Chamber of Commerce’s mandate is to support and assist local businesses. Our office may be closed, but we are open for business and working as an advocate for you during this crisis.
Essential businesses are struggling with how to safely continue to deliver products and services, while non-essential businesses are closed and trying to figure out if online, or other, options are viable. Restaurants are turning to pick-up and delivery options in an attempt to remain open. Industries that depend on tourism and arts and culture are hardest hit as performance venues are shuttered and people are being discouraged from engaging in non-essential travel. However, it is important to remember that, like all disasters, this pandemic will end. The question business owners need to ask is, how do I ride out the crisis?
First and foremost, it is imperative that you stay informed about the ever changing state of affairs. Second, you need to determine if you are able to adapt to the current environment. And third, you need to plan for when the virus has run its course and everyone is allowed to resume normal activities.
The Chamber is in communication with the Meaford Business Improvement Association and Municipal Staff to a) determine how we can be of assistance to the local business community, and b) be a resource for local information and programming. We will continue to disseminate important information via the Chamber Chat email newsletter and through Facebook and Instagram posts.
Please contact us at 519-538-1640 or email@example.com for assistance or more information. Please stay safe and support our local businesses and we will all get through this together.
