This week Nathan Gowan from The Red Door and I chat about all things food and a place that everyone knows your name. When you think Meaford, you think small town, and everyone knows everyone. When chatting with Nathan, you can tell he loves this town. Not originally from here but has resided in Meaford for the last 7 years calls this home. Why is this important to The Red Door? Because Nathan brings his sense of home to restaurant. He only hires Meaford individuals; knowing that keeping employment local helps keep our community running and giving individuals who may struggle to commute outside of Meaford. This just leads into the environment you will feel when you go have a meal at The Red Door. Nathan’s staff treat you like one of the family, they know your name, they stop and have a chat and catch up with you if they have not seen you in a while.
The Red Door Menu changes semi-annually. This allows for use of in season ingredients and a warm comfy soup for the winter also. Nathan points out that the menu style is based on collaboration, he loves to hear from his staff on their ideas or flavours they might want to try. These items may not always be available as they run new items on a trial basis. This year with great success, The Red Door has launched a second patio. So, if you are feeling like an outside dining experience you can head out to their ‘Launch Pad’ which is out front, do not worry you won’t be launched out into space. This is just two local businesses collaborating. The Red Door and Side Launch. On top of the Collaboration with the menu and other businesses, Nathan hosts Live music on weekends. You can find a different artist every week playing out on the orchard patio. Sponsored by Thornbury Cider.
The Red Door want you to come enjoy food and beverages make new friends and feel like you true self is always welcomed. You may even find yourself on their Local Board in the future. Because just like at Grandma’s house, The Red Door are proud to show off all their friends and family. So whether you come for Monday’s Industry night, Taco Tuesday’s; which is the only night they do Tacos; Friday night music or just the food. The Red Door Staff will know your name.
